2016 Theme This Is My World

This Is My World
To celebrate our fifth anniversary in 2016 we can announce a great theme that brings together elements of all of our previous four themes and gives you the opportunity to create something special and personal that you can share with the LECA community. We have deliberately kept the theme so open that it gives you the true freedom to create anything you like that means something to you without the constraints of a particular subject.
As you can see in some of the helpful suggestions we have highlighted below 'This Is My World' could easily embrace elements of our past themes of ‘The Great British Seaside’, ‘That’s Entertainment’, ‘The Great British Countryside’ and ‘In The City, Around The Town’ but it can also inspire you to something new and, in many ways, create your own theme!
Just let us know why you have chosen your subject and why it is a part of your world - the explanation could be as simple as 'I love painting'! (Of course this might not work if your entry is a cross stitch or sculpture but you get the idea!)
Here are a few suggestions about the sorts of things that we consider to be an important part of our lives and our world and that you could use as a source of inspiration for your entry in 2016.
![]() That Special PlaceMaybe you might like to create something that reflects a favourite family holiday destination or somewhere you visited as a child or perhaps somewhere you have been which holds special memories for your for lots of different reasons. The place you proposed to your loved one perhaps? What about the place you would retire to if you had the chance or even that special place you like to go to to be alone to reflect and recharge the batteries? Share your special place with us through your work! | ![]() That Special PersonYou may decide to use as your subject a family member or your family as a whole, or maybe a person in the world or from history who has inspired you. This could give you the scope to produce a portrait painting, photograph or sculpture that encapsulates the essence of this person and conveys to your audience just what it is that is special about them. | ![]() That Special Little PalOver 13 million households in Britain, approximately 46%, own more than 65 million animals as pets. We are often accused of caring for our animals more than we do for other people so what better source of inspiration for a LECA 2016 entry that is both personal and precious? |

![]() That All Consuming HobbyFor many of us an important part of our world is our hobby or hobbies. We live in a world with so much access to information and materials that we could literally spend our entire lives pursuing hobbies! Sadly most of us spend the majority of our time working so our hobbies become a very special part of our lives and yours could be the perfect subject for your LECA 2016 entry. | ![]() That Interesting JobWe all spend the majority of our lives earning a living and many of us are lucky enough to do a job that we actually enjoy! Perhaps you have or had an unusual or inspiring job that you could celebrate with us in an artistic way. | ![]() That Perfect MomentMany of us have a favourite pastime that we use to help us relax and escape from the pressures of every day life. Be it playing sport, learning a musical instrument, writing, walking, camping or fishing it can easily be represented through arts and crafts! |
